The first Mayor of Bedford, Frank Branston, pursued with vigour and determination a robust vision for the regeneration of Bedford town centre and, inspired by this leadership, it was a privilege to lead the redevelopment of the Castle Lane area and the delivery of the Castle Lane mixed use scheme (now known as Castle Quay) as part of the overall vision.

Riverside North, Bedford
Riverside North, Bedford
An imaginative development of Riverside Square with multi-screen cinema, hotel, and restaurant units, providing entertainment for all ages night and day and a new waterside environment. Consented in 2013, and expected to commence on site in 2015, the scheme comprises valuable riverside open space in the heart of the town centre on the former Town Hall site (now demolished) and has real potential to create a lively, vibrant environment, thus exploiting this favourable location.
Bedford Town Centre West - Bus Station Area
Plans for a comprehensive redevelopment of the Bus Station area to provide major retailing, car parking, new modern bus station, leisure and homes were consented in 2017 but market conditions has frustrated the regeneration of the area. The redevelopment of the Bus Station area has, unquestionably, been a key priority for action with Bedford residents and, under the direction of the Mayor of Bedford, Dave Hodgson, 2015 has seen significant and positive investment in this area.
